Salifert Calcium Test Kit
Salifert Calcium Test Kit
Get accurate, easy to read Calcium results in minutes!
Trusted by discerning reefers for years, Salifert Test Kits feature some of the easiest to read results available. Their test kits include easy to follow instructions and straightforward, accurate results. Salifert test kits are also some of the most economical; the Salifert Calcium Test Kit will typically deliver upwards of 50 tests per kit.
Note: Calcium Test kit is rated for 50-100 tests. The actual number of tests a kit will deliver varies based on calcium levels and the amount of reagent required to reach the endpoint of the test, but we have typically gotten about 50 tests with common reef tank calcium levels.
Specifications
- Capacity: Typically delivers 50 to 100 tests per kit.
- Resolution: High-precision increments of 10 mg/L (ppm).
- Accuracy: Reliable results without interference from Magnesium.
- Suitability: Designed specifically for marine and reef environments.
Testing Procedure
- Sample: Use the 2ml syringe to add 2ml of tank water to the vial.
- Powder: Add one level scoop of Ca-1 powder. Swirl for 5 seconds (it may not dissolve fully).
- Preparation: Put the pink tip on the 1ml syringe and draw 1.0ml of Ca-2.
- Initial Dose: Add 0.6ml of the Ca-2 from the syringe into the vial all at once. Swirl for 5 seconds; the liquid should turn pink.
- Titration: Add the remaining Ca-2 drop-by-drop while swirling until the color changes from pink/purple to a clear blue.
- Reading: Read the syringe position and check the chart for your Calcium level.
Why Calcium Matters
Calcium is the primary building block for stony corals and coralline algae.
- Skeletal Growth: Required for the calcification of SPS and LPS corals.
- Chemistry Balance: Works in tandem with Alkalinity and Magnesium for water stability.
- Target Level: Most reefers maintain levels between 400 – 450 ppm.
