Specifications

• Measurement Scale: Measures in steps of 0.3 dKH (or 0.1 meq/L) with standard dosing.
• Dual-Resolution: Features a high-resolution scale for maximum precision, and a low-resolution scale to save reagents in high-alkalinity tanks.
• Capacity: Contains enough reagent to conduct roughly 100 to 200 tests, depending on your aquarium's KH levels.

Testing Procedure

• Add Water: Use the 5 ml syringe to add exactly 4 ml of aquarium water into the test vial.
• Add Indicator: Shake the small KH-Ind dropper bottle well. Add 4 drops into the test vial and swirl gently for 5 seconds. The water will turn a light blue/green color.
• Prepare Syringe: Firmly attach the plastic tip to the 1 ml titration syringe. Submerge the tip into the big KH reagent bottle and pull the plunger up until the black rubber ring rests exactly at the 1.00 ml mark. (Note: It is normal to see an air bubble trapped right below the plunger; as long as the black ring is at 1.00 ml, you have the correct amount of liquid).
• Titrate: Add the KH reagent drop by drop into the test vial, swirling the vial for a few seconds after each drop.
• Watch for Color Change: Continue adding drops until the color completely shifts from blue/green to a distinct pink/red or orange-red color.
• Read Plunger Level: Hold the 1 ml syringe tip-down and look at the position of the black rubber ring. Read the value from the syringe scale and compare it to the included chart to find your dKH.
